February SLT Message of The Month

2nd Feb 2024

February’s Message of the Month is “ Take your place face to face, I learn the most when you are close”. Eye contact is important for your baby’s brain development. Being face to face allows you to respond to your child’s facial expressions and all communication attempts

Being face to face with your baby or child will help them to:

  • Learn new things
  • Interact with others
  • Be more confident
  • Make friends at nursery and school
  • Develop more independence

Here are some helpful tips:

  • Hold your baby close and look at them when you interact with each other
  • Be face to face with your child when they are cooing, babbling or talking to you – this will show them that you are listening
  • Be face to face when you sing nursery rhymes and during playtime
For information and support on Speech, Language and communication, please contact our in house Speech & Language therapist, Linda Kapur on 028 7774 2904.
